Virgin Media
Colour testing.
Wolff Olins tasked us back in 2013 with creating various colour tests in order to make some clear choices for insertion into the brand guidelines we were in the process of producing. We tested the primary & secondary colours with each other & alternative variations of CMYK values plus we cross-referenced the accessibility of each for the poor of sight. The goal was to weed out clashes & colours that did not work in terms of readability across both digital & analogue media.
We create A2 sheets & fill them with as much relevant data & content as possible for one test in order to obtain the best value for money but more importantly, we want to test assets in the various colours, not just the colours themselves as more often than not you will not just be viewing a solid colour when branding is concerned. We test the logo & brand marque itself along with line weights, small usage marks & icons, gradients & tints & typography.
